Be Sure to Review Your Insurance Plan Yearly!
Insurance Carriers change their contracts and relationships with Physicians and drug formularies at least once a year. Your health also changes from year to year. You should review your current coverage with your independent insurance agent on a yearly basis to ensure the policy you have in force covers your current situation, is affiliated with your important doctors and necessary drugs along with other benefits available in your area.
ABC’s of Medicare
Part A
Covers expenses associated with inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facilities, hospice, lab tests, surgery, and home health care.
Part B
Covers fees associated with doctors and other health care provider services, outpatient care, durable medical equipment, home health care, some injectable drugs, and some preventative services. Note: Blood sugar (glucose) test strips, blood sugar testing monitors, lancet devices and lancets are typically covered by Medicare Part B.
Part C
Medicare Advantage Plans cap the costs of Original Medicare (Part A & B) and they are run by Medicare-approved, private insurance companies and includes all the benefits and services covered under Medicare Part A and Part B. Most Part C plans provide extra benefits and services. You have the option of choosing a Medicare Advantage plan that includes Part D (Prescription drug coverage).
Alternatively, you can opt to purchase a Medicare Supplement plan to cap Original Medicare costs. Unlike a Medicare Advantage plan where you pay as you go, when you have a Medicare Supplement Plan, you pay in advance.
